Cowgirl Softball Falls to Texas, 9-2
April 06, 2008 | Cowgirl Softball
Texas (19-14-2 overall, 5-3 Big 12) struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run single by Desiree Williams. The Longhorns added another in the third, and three in the fourth on four hits to take a 6-0 lead. A double, sacrifice bunt and a single scored one in the seventh for UT before OSU finally got on the scoreboard in the sixth.
With two outs, senior Kim Kaye hit a double down the left-field line. Megan Castle was hit by a pitch, and both runners advanced on a pitch that sailed over the catcher's head and hit the backstop. Heather Kim, who went 2-for-3 in the game, followed that with a single to centerfield, scoring both runners.
Texas added two more runs on a home run by Tallie Thrasher that cleared the 212-foot marker in left centerfield.
Crabtree (7-10) was relieved in the fourth inning by Sarah Odom, a native of Burleson, Texas, approximately two hours, 45 minutes north of Austin. Odom gave up four runs in 2-1/3 innings and struck out one.
Oklahoma State (19-18 overall, 3-3 Big 12) will host Central Arkansas and Wichita State in non-conference action on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, at Cowgirl Stadium in Stillwater. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. on both days.
