April 05, 2008 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
PALO ALTO, Calif. Â The Oklahoma State men's track and field team fared well in its first day of competition at the Stanford University Invitational, including two NCAA Regional qualifying marks.
In the 5,000-meter run, senior Ryan Vail and junior Daniel Watts easily beat the regional time of 14:12.00, finishing the event in 13:41.61 and 14:01.62, respectively. Vail's time was good enough to make the "B" qualifying time for the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials.
Sophomore David Chirchir just missed the regional mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, his first time to run the event this season. He finished with a time of 9:08.31, less than 2 seconds from hitting the 9:07.00 qualifying mark.
