The Cowgirls scored in the bottom of the first with three consecutive hits. Freshman Alysia Hamilton hit a base hit up the middle with two outs, and was followed by a hit by Kim Kaye to right field. Hamilton then scored on a single by Megan Castle up the middle.
Oklahoma State made the score 3-0 when two runs scored on a double by junior Heather Kim. Katelyn Bright reached first base when she was hit by the first pitch of the inning, and moved up on Hamilton's second of three hits on the evening. The double by Kim scored by Bright and Castle, who reached on a fielders choice.
The Cowgirls added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kati Phillips hit a pinch-hit single to centerfield with Breana Casaus on second base. Phillips advanced to second on the throw to home and moved over to third base when the throw was off line and went to the backstop. She then scored on a liner off the bat of Bright that bounced off UNT's pitcher.
Oklahoma State (18-17) is now 11-1 when scoring in the first inning. The Cowgirls will host 11th-ranked Oklahoma (30-8) on Wednesday night in the first game of the Bedlam series. First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
