A big THANK YOU to all supporters, coaches, staff and student-athletes responsible for the 2008 OSU Athletic Auction & Benefit Dinner. The department has received numerous comments and very positive feedback regarding a great evening among the Cowboy faithful. Equally as important as the $465,000 committed from our supporters, the event is a significant forum for the “Orange Nation” to congregate / fellowship with fans, coaches, administrators and student athletes.
Highlights:
- Honorary Chair Walt Garrison donated several hand carved wood ornaments as auction items. These, along with an autographed Dallas Cowboy helmet, were personally presented by Walt.
- $56,500 was raised for the Joe and Connie Mitchell Academic Enhancement Center through a special Dutch Auction. These funds support tutors, laptops, etc. and directly impact GPA, APR and graduating rates for our student athletes. Baseball legend and Cowboy Great Pete Incaviglia signed baseballs for supporters.
- 800 auction items were collectively gathered for this event [a new record]
- All sponsorship tables were sold out (more than $30K was raised in table revenue above 2006)
- Dinner and golf outings with new Men's Basketball Head Coach, Travis Ford, were popular items bringing top dollars.
- 900 attendees gathered for a great cause.
- The live auction alone raised $140,500
Thank you to athletic employees in the POSSE Office including Mindy, Ellen, Brandon, Karyl, Matt, Jason, and Stephanie - you all made it happen; your efforts were paramount to a wildly successful event. A special thank you to Mindy and Brandon for item entry, maintaining the item database, and assisting with packaging.
Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped gather items and execute program...and a special thank you to our incredible committee chairs – Kristen and Dustin Holder and Beth and John Trook.
On behalf of the university and athletic administration, faculty, coaching staff and students, THANK YOU again to our supporters for their incredible support. This event could not have been successful without their vision for excellence and the future for OSU Sports. We deeply appreciate the dedicated involvement supporting Oklahoma State University. The future is bright orange.
