Three OSU Teams Honored By NCAA
April 24, 2008 | General
Three varsity sports teams at Oklahoma State University have been recognized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for their performance in the academic progress rate (APR) program. Their efforts have placed them among the top performing squads in the country.
OSU's men's golf team, women's outdoor track and field squad and women's indoor track and field squad are rated among the top 10 percent in America for their academic progress, according to the NCAA.
The NCAA is honoring Division I sports teams with public recognition awards for their latest multi-year APR scores. All of the teams recognized by the NCAA posted multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all squads in their respective sports. The public recognition awards are part of the broad Division I academic reform effort. The APR scores are cumulative over the past four years.
OSU's men's golf team has a perfect APR score of 1,000 and is being honored by the NCAA for the second straight year.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. High-performing teams receiving awards posted APR scores ranging from 965 to a perfect 1,000.
