Cowgirls Split Doubleheader with fourth-ranked Texas A&M

The Aggies took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Holly Ridley scored on a base hit by Erin Glasco. OSU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third when senior Kim Kaye hit a towering two-run home run over the centerfield wall with Alysia Hamilton on first base.
Texas A&M added three runs in the top of the fourth to make it 4-2 Aggies on a pair of RBI singles by Glasco and Kelsey Spittler. Jessica Meza cut the lead in half for OSU on a solo homer. The Cowgirls scored another in the same inning when Mariah Gearhart singled, stole second and scored on a base hit by Katelyn Bright.
Oklahoma State took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth on a bases-loaded double by Breana Casaus. A&M added a run in the sixth on three-consecutive hits by Alex Reynolds, Glasco and Jami Lobpries with no outs, but reliever Anna Whiddon struck out two batters and forced the third to pop up to third base to end the inning.
Sarah Odom threw five innings, allowing three earned runs and improved her record to 7-4. Whiddon threw two hitless innings and struck out three in picking up her second save of the season.
In game two, Texas A&M took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second on three consecutive hits, including a run scoring double by Lobpries, and a sacrifice fly by Spittler. The Aggies increased the lead to 4-0 in the third after Natalie Villarreal tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a base hit by Gibson.
Oklahoma State scored on in the bottom of the third when Casaus scored from third on a base hit by Hamilton. The Cowgirls added two more in the fourth on a two-run single by Jessica Meza. It was all OSU could muster as A&M won, 4-3.
Oklahoma State is now 22-20 on the season and 5-5 in Big 12 Conference action. Texas A&M is now 40-7, including a 12-1 mark in league play. OSU will host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday night in a makeup game. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
