Cowboy Track and Field Travels to John McDonnell Invitational
April 17, 2008 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
The Cowboys have already qualified four runners this season, and have had several just miss the mark.
Sophomore David Chirchir, who was only 1.31 seconds from qualifying earlier this season, will try to hit the 3,000-meter steeplechase regional mark.
Senior Alejandro Ruiz will compete in the 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs, both for the first time this season. Ruiz, along with women's thrower Deleanor Kirkpatrick, was given the Big 12 Community Service Award earlier this week.
Oklahoma State has had a lot of success in the 5,000-meter run this season, including three regional qualifiers in the event.
Senior Brian Ehlis and sophomore Ryan Birkholz will try to add to that number when they compete in the event for the first time this season.
Freshman Ryan Caldwell and senior Terry Josserand, who missed the 400-meter dash regional mark by 1.69 seconds in his competition, will start the day for the Cowboys at 12:20 p.m., when they compete in the 400-meter dash.
