Cowgirl Equestrian Gets Set for Central Championships

The Cowgirls will compete in the Central Championships on Saturday. Oklahoma State (9-4) has earned the two seed in the competition, and will start off against the three seed, Kansas State.
The show starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday in Manhattan, Kan, hosted by Kansas State. The day will be lead off by the one seed, Texas A&M, showing against the four seed, Baylor.
The Cowgirls finished off the regular season with a victory over Fresno State in Stillwater. With this victory the Cowgirls met their goal of saying undefeated at home for the season. The only four losses the Cowgirls had where all on the road.
The Cowgirls split with Kansas State (6-6) during the season. In the first meeting the Cowgirls defeated the Wildcats by a margin of 17-5 in Stillwater. The Cowgirls dropped a close show in Manhattan by a margin of 10-9.
On the western side of the competition the Cowgirls will show eight girls. The four that will show in the horsemanship discipline will be senior Sam Davidson, junior Jordan Pickelman, sophomore Ashley Koch, and freshman Courtney Whitacre. In the victory over the Wildcats Davidson, Koch, and Whitacre all captured victories, with Davidson leading the team with a 72.5.
In the reining discipline the Cowgirls will be lead by upperclassman, junior, Jacque Roberts. Along with Roberts, a brigade of sophomores, including Leah Kuehn, Rachell Shobe, and Molly Tipton will show for the Cowgirls. Kuehn, Shobe, and Tipton all captured a victory over the Wildcats in their first meeting. Shobe also won the MVP for that show.
On the English side of the competition the Cowgirls will show five girls for equitation on over fences. The competitors include seniors Bailey Mahoney and Natalie Chappell, sophomores Ally Blais and Jaclyn Osterstock, and freshman Hannah Beresford. Mahoney, Chappell, Blais, and Osterstock all captured victories against Kansas State in their first meeting, with Chappell winning the MVP.
To round off the English competition the Cowgirls will show seniors Bailey Mahoney and Michelle Woolschlager, juniors Charlotte Collingsworth, Sam Collingsworth, and Sarah Summers, and sophomore Ally Blais in equitation on the flat. With a team high 86, Sam Collingsworth picked up the MVP against Kansas State in their first meeting.
