Cowgirl Softball Falls to Purdue, 2-1
March 16, 2008 | Cowgirl Softball
The Boilermakers put their first run on the board in the bottom of the second inning when Kelsey Haupert led off with a solo home run. It was the only run of the game until the top of the seventh when freshman Alysia Hamilton scored from second on a base hit by Jessica Meza. Hamilton had reached on a walk and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Heather Kim.
With the international tiebreaker rule instituted in the eighth inning, Breana Casaus was placed on second base but failed to score on a double by Katelyn Bright. Purdue was successful in plating the winning run as Christina Trauger scored from third with two outs on an error by Meza.
Cowgirl pitcher Anna Whiddon threw a complete game, striking out seven while walking none. She dropped to 2-3 on the season as OSU's record was evened out at 14-14. Purdue improved to 19-8 on the season.
Oklahoma State will return to action on Tuesday as the Cowgirls host Missouri State in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. at the Cowgirl Softball Complex.
