Oklahoma State Stays Unbeaten, Handles Wildcats

Oklahoma State equestrian team (7-0) remains undefeated after beating Kansas State on Saturday (4-3).
The Cowgirls start the spring portion of the season with a win over the Wildcats 17-5. The English team won 8-3 and the western team won 9-2.
Head Coach Larry Sanchez said, “Over all it was a good day. We found some things we need to work on, and we will straighten them out during the next week.”
The Cowgirl English team was led by sophomore Ally Blais who captured two victories in equitation on the flat and equitation over fences. Oklahoma State won equitation over fences 4-2. Along with Blais, seniors Bailey Mahoney and Jaclyn Osterstock, and sophomore Natalie Chappell also captured victories in the fences discipline. Chappell also won MVP honors on the day.
To bring up the tail end of the hunt seat team, the equitation on the flat beat Kansas State 4-1. Along with Blais' second win, senior Michelle Woolschlager and juniors Charlotte Collingsworth and Sam Collingsworth also captured victories. Sam Collingsworth won the MVP for equitation on the flat and scored a team high 86.
Senior Sam Davidson, sophomore Ashley Koch, and freshmen Margaux Tucker and Courtney Whitacre all contributed to the horsemanship victory. Tucker captured the MVP for the discipline. Davidson lead the team with a 72.5.
In the 5-1 reining victory the underclassmen stood strong for the Cowgirls. Sophomores Leah Kuehn, Rachell Shobe, and Molly Tipton, and freshmen Courtney Whitacre and Brianna Parnell all contributed a victory for the Cowgirls. Shobe captured the MVP for the reining discipline. Shobe and Kuehn are both undefeated on the season.
The Cowgirls are in action next against Georgia on February 16, in Athens, Ga.
