Two Cowboys Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors

STILLWATER, Okla. Â Oklahoma State cross country runners Ryan Vail and David Jankowski both earned spots on the 2007 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's All-Academic Team, it was announced today.
The award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and have completed a minimum 24 semester hours through the 2007 fall term. Additionally, the student-athlete must finish in the top 15 or top ten percent at their respective NCAA regional meet, or receive All-American honors.
A Spanish major, Vail earned All-America honors after finishing eighth at the 2007 NCAA Cross Country Championships. The Gresham, Ore., native also secured all-Midwest Region, all-Big 12 and Academic all-Big 12 honors in 2007.
Jankowski placed ninth at the NCAA Midwest Regional meet to earn all-region honors and help the Cowboys to a first-place team finish at the event. An all-Big 12 and Academic all-Big 12 honoree in 2007, Jankowski placed 67th at the NCAA Championships. He is a journalism major.
