Cowgirls Fall to Indiana State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. Â The Cowgirls lose by three to the Sycamores and fall to 1-2 during the second day of the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces, N.M.
After two singles and a walk to load the bases for the Cowgirls in the third inning, senior Kim Kaye got her first RBI of the day as she singled in Breana Casaus to give OSU an early 1-0 lead.
The Sycamores (1-2) tied it up in the fourth when Britt Boyer hit a solo home run to lead off the inning. The Cowgirl defense committed two errors that allowed two
The Sycamores would score two more in the fifth off three hits and would bring their final run total to five.
The Cowgirls tried to rally back in the seventh as they scored another run from a double off Kim Kaye's bat, her 17th RBI of the season, but it wouldn't be enough and OSU falls to 8-6 on the season. OSU ended the game with nine hits including two doubles.
Freshman Sarah Odom got the start and the loss and is now 5-2. She threw into the fifth inning and was relieved by sophomore Anna Whiddon. Odom gave up five hits for three earned runs and struck out four. Whiddon came in to face four batters and struck out three of them.
Pitching a complete game for the Sycamores was Meagan McCurdy and she improves to 1-1.
The Cowgirls will play the second game of the double-header at 11:30 a.m. MT against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
