Cowgirls Split Two Games in New Mexico

LAS CRUCES, N.M. Â Oklahoma State split it's first two games at the Troy Cox Classic in Las Cruces on Friday as they lost to New Mexico State 6-5 after defeating Samford 10-5.
The Cowgirls (8-5) saw a 5-3 lead slip away in the bottom of the seventh as the Aggies had consecutive hits, followed by a Cowgirl error and a two-RBI double by Hoku Nohara .
Cowgirl freshman Alysia Hamilton hit a solo home run, her second on the season, in the second inning to give the Cowgirls an early 1-0 lead. Another Cowgirl run came in the third inning when Breana Casaus scored from second on a single into left field by Mariah Gearhart.
The Aggies (4-8) took the lead in the bottom of the third inning when junior Stacey Lien hit a bases-clearing double to make the score 3-2.
OSU tied it up at three in the fifth inning after Casaus reached on a single and Gearhart hit her in with a double to left-center.
In the top of the seventh, senior Kim Kaye hit her second home run of the day, seventh on the season, with Katelyn Bright on third to give the Cowgirls a 5-3 lead.
However New Mexico State rallied back in the bottom of that inning to win the game 6-5.
Freshman Amanda Crabtree started in the circle for the Cowgirls. She allowed nine hits for three earned runs and struck out five. She is now 3-4. Kim Watson earned the win for the Aggies and is now 3-5.
The Cowgirls will return to action on Saturday for day two of the Troy Cox Classic and will face
