Cowgirl Softball Falls at North Texas

Oklahoma State had just three hits and Sarah Odom picked up her first loss of the season as the Cowgirl softball team fell at North Texas 5-2 here Wednesday night at Lovelace Stadium.
The Mean Green got an early 2-0 lead in the first inning off three-consecutive hits, including a double by freshman Mallory Cantler.
Oklahoma State tied it up in the top of the fourth when Jessica Meza reached on an error by the North Texas third baseman that allowed the ball to go into the outfield and Megan Castle scored from second. Sam Heinlein came in to pinch hit for Breana Casaus and walked, then Mariah Gearhart hit a single into left-center that scored Meza from second.
North Texas (4-5) took the lead again in the bottom of the fourth. The second and third batter of the inning reached on an error and hit by pitch. They each scored on back-to-back hits to make the score 4-2. North Texas capped off their lead with a solo home run in the sixth by Martinez, her second on the season.
Sarah Odom fell to 4-1 as the Cowgirls are dropped to 7-4. Oklahoma State will return to action this weekend as the Cowgirls travel to Las Cruces, N.M., to compete in the Troy Cox Classic.
