Cowgirls Drop Two This Weekend

Oklahoma State Equestrian (7-2) lost its first and second matches of the season to the Southeastern Conference. Oklahoma State showed against Georgia (8-2) on Saturday and Auburn (8-2) on Sunday.
In Athens, the Cowgirls were defeated by a margin of 10-8 by the Bulldogs of Georgia. The Cowgirls lost the western portion of the show 5-4. In the reining the Cowgirls captured a victory, while Junior Jacque Roberts brought the lone MVP for OSU on the day. Sophomores Molly Tipton and Rachell Shobe also captured victories in the reining discipline.
To wrap up the western competition the Cowgirls were defeated 3-1 in horsemanship. The lone victor for the Cowgirls was junior Jordan Pickelman with a 73.5.
The hunt seat team lost to Georgia 5-4. In equitation over fences the Cowgirls tied with a score of 2-2, with sophomore Ally Blais and freshman Hannah Beresford capturing victories. In equitation on the flat Oklahoma State lost 3-2 with the two victories going to junior Sam Collingsworth and sophomore Ally Blais.
Oklahoma State dropped it second match of the weekend and season on Sunday in Auburn by a score of 10-9. In the second close show of the weekend the Cowgirls clawed out a victory in hunt seat 5-4 while losing the western portion of the show 6-4.
For the hunt seat categories the Cowgirls won equitation over fences by a score of 3-2. Sophomore Ally Blais was the MVP winner for this discipline scoring an 85. Oklahoma State tied 2-2 on equitation on the flat. Junior Sam Collingsworth had a team high 86 in this discipline.
On the western side of the competition the Cowgirls won horsemanship 3-2 with senior Sam Davidson capturing the disciplines MVP with a 77.5. The Cowgirls dropped the reining competition 4-1 with sophomore Leah Kuehn capturing the lone victory.
Head Coach Larry Sanchez said, “As a coaching staff we are very pleased with how our girls rode, we rode very well in both competitions and believe that if we continue to ride like we are we are still on track for our goal for the end of the season. Both teams were very tough in both disciplines and we hope to meet both teams again in the later part of the season.”
