Cowgirls Win Three in Tempe

The Cowgirls swept all three games in the second day of the Kajikawa Classic in
In the first game of the day the Cowgirls defeated No. 15 Washington with a pair of home runs. In the second inning, freshman Ashley Boyd hit a two-run shot with Alysia Hamilton on second base.
The Cowgirls held the Huskies (3-3-1) until the fourth inning when Lauren Greer led off the inning with a solo home run. That would be the last run scored for the Huskies until the seventh inning.
Cowgirl senior Kim Kaye led off the sixth with a solo home run, her fourth of the year, to make the score 3-1. But it was centerfielder Breana Casaus who sealed the game for the Cowgirls.
In the top of the seventh after a lead-off single, an OSU error and two outs, the Huskies had a runner on second and third. Alicia Blake hit the ball to centerfield scoring Amanda Fleischman from third and Marnie Koziol was following. However Casaus threw the ball home and Boyd tagged her out to end the game. Freshman Sarah Odom threw her first complete game as a Cowgirl and improved to 3-0.
In the second game of the double-header, the Cowgirls were victorious over the
Kim Kaye hit her fifth home run of the season in the third with Heather Kim on base to put the Cowgirls up 2-1. The next inning, OSU scored another two runs off three hits by
Mariah Gearhart, Katelyn Bright and Kim.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Cavaliers batted through their lineup and scored another four runs off three hits. Lindsey Preuss led off the inning with a home run. After four walks and two more hits,
Both teams scored in the fifth and Cowgirl junior Jessica Meza hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to tie the game at 6-6. OSU's defense held
Each team scored a run in the eighth and ninth innings and
Odom, who came in for relief in the fifth inning, and rest of the defense held Virginia to just one run in the bottom of the inning and the Cowgirls won 10-9. Odom improved to 4-0 on the season.

In the fourth, Cowgirl senior Meghan Wagner hit a two-run home run to tie the game at 3-3. The next inning OSU got two more runs off of four straight hits from the middle of the lineup. Crabtree finished out the game for her first complete game of the season and improved to 2-3 on the season as the Cowgirls won 5-4.
OSU is now 6-3 on the season and will complete the Kajikawa Classic tomorrow when they face
