Cowgirls Head to Las Vegas for Weekend Doubleheader

STILLWATER, Okla. Â– Oklahoma State's women's tennis team travels to Las Vegas, Nev., this weekend for a weekend double dip at UNLV's Fertitta Tennis Complex.

OSU, ranked 62^nd in the country, will face off against Illinois State on Saturday before a Sunday showdown with the 40^th-ranked Ranked Lady Rebels of UNLV. Both matches are set to begin at noon.

“We are excited about playing out in Las Vegas,” said Cowgirl head coach Julius Lubicz-Majewski. “We are trying to get some practices in out here so our girls can grow accustomed to the courts. UNLV will be a very tough opponent. In my opinion, they are a top-25 caliber team and we look forward to matching up against them on Sunday.”

The Cowgirls enter the weekend looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season. The Cowgirls fell to Southern Methodist, 5-2, at Edmond's Oak Tree Country Club last Saturday, dropping them to 3-1 on the season. Senior Yawna Allen and freshman Sasha Belova were strong in the loss to the Mustangs as they picked up OSU's lone two wins in singles play.

Oklahoma State started the season on a three-match winning streak as they defeated Loyola-Marymouns, Ole Miss, and Texas-Arlington, behind strong play from Allen and fellow senior Iryna Tkachenko.

Both matches will be held at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, and results will be posted on okstate.com following each match.
