Fleming, Barnes-Smith Lead Cowboys at J.D Martin Invite

NORMAN, Okla. Â Members of the Oklahoma State track team combined to set 21 new personal records at the J.D. Martin Invitational. Sophomore Sean Fleming and junior Matt Barnes-Smith took the top two spots in the mile run to lead the way for OSU.
“Very happy with both those guys.” Coach Dave Smith said. Fleming claimed first place with a time of 4:15.98, followed by Barnes-Smith who finished second with a time of 4:17.37. Freshman Josh Mathis finished sixth with a time of 4:21.64, senior Alejandro Ruiz finished in seventh place with a time of 4:23.54 and freshman Ryan Little clocked in at 4:24.39 to place eighth.
OSU dominated in the 1,000-meter run, with standout freshman Johnathan Stublaski finishing second with a time of 2:27.86 and six other Cowboys right behind him
“Today we found out we've got a very, very talented freshman named Johnathan Stublaski,” Smith said. “I was extremely impressed, he has not been trained for that event.”
Sophomore Brad McNiff finished in third place with a time of 2:30.63, freshman Bryan Downey took fourth place in a time of 2:31.14, junior Peter Doroshuk finished fifth place at a time of 2:33.02, freshman Paul Burke crossed the finish line in a time of 2:35.33 to claim sixth place and Jerhoemee Murray was seventh with a time of 2:48.57.
In the open mile run sophomore Peter Wood finished in fifth place with a time of 4:35.89. Moving to the men's 800-meter open race, junior Brian Gosnell was all alone in the end finishing third placed with a time of 1:58.26. Running in the 600-yard race was freshman Daniel Storts finishing in 12th place at a time of 1:16.76.
In the 400-meter dash, seven Cowboys competed. Freshman Ryan Caldwell had the best finish of 17th place with a time of 52.03. Other Cowboys finishing were Brad McNiff in 25th place with a time of 53.48, Doroshuk in 26th place with time of 54.12, Downey with a time of 54.43 takes 28th place, Gosnell with a time of 54.65 took 30th place, Burke in 32nd place with time of 55.57 and Murray finishing 33rd with a time of 56.35.
