Cowboy Track Excels At Razorback Invitational

Oklahoma State's Cowboy track team competed Saturday morning at the Razorback Invitational being held at the Randal Tyson Track Complex in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The highlight of the event came when 13 Cowboys set new personal bests in the 3000-meter, 800-meter and the mile run.
"I'm really excited about how we're running so far," head coach Dave Smith said. "I think that everybody is running aggressively."
The Cowboys claimed four spots in the top 10 of the men's 3000-meter run, with Johnathan Stublaski finishing third with a time of 8:28.25, Ryan Little taking fourth place, finished with a time of 8:32.04, Josh Mathis finishes with a time of 8:35.58 in sixth place and Clay Mayes rounding out the top 10 in eighth place with a finishing time of 8:38.92.
In the 3000-meter run, five Cowboys set new personal bests: Ryan Little, Clay Mayes, Peter Wood, Josh Mathis and Johnathan Stublaski.
In section two of the men's 800-meter run, Cowboys Brad McNiff takes second with only a second from first at a time of 1:56.44, and Brian Downey finishes with a time of 1:57.30 to take fourth place.
Section three, of the men's 800-meter run saw three Cowboys perform well with Peter Doroshuk taking third place with a time of 1:58.88, Paul Burke finishing in fifth place with a time of 1:59.21 and Jerhoemee Murray finishing with a time of 2:05.21, taking eleventh place
"Paul Burke ran aggressive like I asked him to, it cost him time and place but he ran aggressively." Smith said.
In the men's 800-meter another five more Cowboys rewrote their personal bests as Brad McNiff, Brian Downey, Peter Doroshuk, Paul Burke and Jerhoemee Murray all topped their previous marks.
Competing the mile run in section one and two, Daniel Watts set a new personal best with a time of 4:13.96 to finish in ninth place.
Other Cowboys setting records in the mile run were Brian Gosnell, who finished in 12th place with a time of 4:14.84 and Sean Fleming with a time of 4:22.30 tom come in 19th. Also in the mile run, David Jankowski finishes in 20th place with a time of 4:23.58.
In the men's 400-meter dash, Cowboy Daniel Storts finished in 48th place with a time of 51.08 and Ryan Caldwell took 58th place with a time of 53.29.
To end the day, the men's mile run championship featured Cowboys Ryan Vail and David Chirchir. Vail clocked in at seventh place with a time of 4:06:67 and Chirchir finished in ninth with a time of 4:09.89.
Next weekend the Cowboys will head south to Norman, Okla. for the Sooner Invitational on Sunday, Feb. 24, hosted at the Mosier Track Complex.
