DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.ÂOklahoma State senior Pernilla Lindberg carded a 73 on Friday during the final round of play at the Duramed FUTURES Tour Qualifying School to finish in second place at Cleveland Heights Golf Course.
The first-team All-American tallied an 11-under 277 total and came in one stroke behind medalist Hannah Jun. Lindberg did finish as the low amateur in the 312-player field. In addition to her 1-over final round, the Bollnäs, Sweden native carded rounds of 69, 66 and 69 at the 72-hole event.
“I missed a lot of putts, but I was hitting it close all day,” Lindberg said. “I knew I could have had a lower score today, but I had a great experience all week. It's going to be a while before I play another tournament, but I feel really good about the way I played.”
The 94 players who made the 54-hole cut will receive exempt or non-exempt status for the 2009 Duramed FUTURES Tour season. The number of exempt players will be determined following the final stage of LPGA Qualifying School in early December.
Lindberg will retain her amateur status through next spring's NCAA Championship before joining the professional ranks.
