Cowgirl Softball Concludes Home Fall Schedule at 6-0
October 08, 2008 | Cowgirl Softball
Cowgirl hurler Sarah Odom started the first game for Oklahoma State and scattered three hits while striking out four and walking one in four innings of play. The Cowgirl defense played very well, turning three double plays all by middle infielders Chelsea Garcia and Alysia Hamilton.
Hamilton was also effective at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run off the scoreboard in right field. Senior Jessica Meza went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
OSU pitcher Anna Whiddon threw a complete-game no-hit shutout in the second contest, allowing just two runners to reach base. The Cowgirl junior walked one batter while striking out 10 in game two.
Oklahoma State scored its first run in the bottom of the second when Garcia led off the inning with a double to right field. With two outs, Meza doubled down the left field line, scoring Garcia.
The Cowgirls added a run in the fourth when freshman Julie Ward tripled to lead off the stanza and scored on an RBI groundout by Garcia.
Oklahoma State (6-0) will conclude the fall scrimmage schedule on Saturday as the Cowgirls travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on Northeastern State and Arkansas.
