Cowgirls Finish Fourth At Stanford Intercollegiate

PALO ALTO, Calif.— Oklahoma State's women's golf team closed out play on Sunday at the Stanford Intercollegiate with a 292 final round to finish in fourth place at Stanford Golf Club.
The Cowgirls started the day alone in third place before posting their 8-over score for a 54-hole total of 859, 7-over, to finish two strokes behind Stanford's 857 for third place. UCLA recorded a wire-to-wire victory, finishing at 844, while Southern California came in three shots back at 847.
USC's Lizette Salas fired a 68 during her final round to overtake the individual lead from OSU freshman Caroline Masson. Salas finished with a 7-under 206 total on her way to a two-shot victory.
Masson carded a 73 during her final round to post the first runner-up finish of her brief career. The Gladbeck, Germany native's bid to become the second OSU freshman to earn her first career victory during the fall season came up just short after posting her 2-over score. Fellow freshman Caroline Hedwall won the Duramed Fall Preview in September.
Senior Pernilla Lindberg climbed five spots after posting an even-par 71 during her final round to finish tied for 12th place at 214.
Hedwall finished among the group tied for 24th place at 217 after signing for a 74 during her final round.
Senior Karin Kinnerud moved up four spots into a tie for 69th after a third-round 74 gave her a 228 total.
Fellow senior Amanda Johnson finished with a 230 total and tied for 74th place after recording a 79 on Sunday.
The Cowgirls will close out their fall schedule on Oct. 27 when they begin play at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
