Each week during the cross country season, senior All-American and Big 12 Indoor champion Ryan Vail and freshman German Fernandez will give fans a text message-sized look into their lives with the newest feature on okstate.com, Text Messages From The Cowboys. Sometimes the topic will be cross country, sometimes it won't. This week's installment comes from Fernandez:
Hello everyone. We're getting geared up for the NCAA Pre-Nationals this week in Terre Haute, Indiana. I'm very excited because I've never been to Indiana before, and for once I get to travel with my team. We are not racing Ryan Vail, Matt Barnes-Smith, David Chirchir and Daniel Watts because they are already familiar with the course from having run it so many times before. A lot of our other guys are going so they can get the experience of how it feels to race under the pressure. Many teams are going to try to run fast trying to score points aggressively, while we are doing the quite opposite. We're trying to run as a pack and finish strong. Hopefully everyone can stay healthy and be ready to race. Overall I want to thank everyone who supported us at the Cowboy Jamboree. It really was a big factor and without you we wouldn't have accomplished what we did.
