Cowboys Take Down Roadrunners, 73-61

OSU took an early 6-0 lead and never trailed in the game. An 11-0 run midway through the first period extended the Cowboys' lead to 16, and OSU led 37-23 at intermission. Harris had 13 points and Dove 10 as the teams entered the lockerroom, with the Cowboys shooting 62.5 percent in the first half.
The second period started out much like the first and OSU took its first of three 18-point leads at the 13:14 mark, 51-33. The Pokes led by the same margin at the 9:26 mark and with 8:49 remaining in the game, but the Roadrunners would not go away. An 11-2 run over the next 2-1/2 minutes cut OSU's lead down to nine at 57-48.
A three-pointer by Travis Gabbidon, who scored 15 points for UTSA, with just under two minutes left in the game cut the margin down to six at 65-59. However, Oklahoma State closed the game on an 8-2 run for the final margin of victory.
Junior guard Byron Eaton scored 14 points, including 12 at the free-throw line, while freshman James Anderson added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Oklahoma State shot 59.5 percent for the game and 21-of-27 (77.8 percent) from the free-throw line. However, the Cowboys also committed a season-high 23 turnovers.
OSU (8-5) will host Rogers State on Monday, Jan. 7, before opening Big 12 Conference play a week from Saturday.
