Oklahoma State University Athletics

Goals, Objectives...Action!
September 07, 2007 | General
First, let me thank you for your continued loyalty supporting Oklahoma State Athletics. Your support  through purchasing tickets, making charitable donations  allows OSU Athletics to accomplish many things on and off the field. As mentioned in the first blog, we are attempting to raise the bar related to communicating and educating our stakeholders. With this in mind, I thought I would share several of our major goals associated with External Affairs, Marketing and Development. First and foremost is to educate our student athletes. Through our annual fund drive and donor seating system, the POSSE provides $4.5 million in annual scholarship funding; this covers academic costs for all of our scholarship athletes, providing them with a collegiate education and preparing them for success beyond the classroom and their respective varsity sport.
Secondly, we are building, or improving our athletic facilities for Cowboy and Cowgirl student athletes to compete at the highest level. With the completion of Boone Pickens Stadium, our campus will boast of some of the best football, basketball/wrestling and golf facilities anywhere in the country. We have a plan to continue this momentum representing each of our 18 intercollegiate sports.
Third, we are focused on offering new services, amenities and experiences to OSU fans. Last season, you saw dramatic differences surrounding home football games including Oklahoma vendors, GOvision, face painting, youth-oriented exhibits, inflatables for youth, food vendors and “Pete” tattoo tents. New on-line tools allow supporters to renew tickets, choose a payment plan, secure select Spring Game seats, etc. Loyal fans attending football away-games enjoyed new Road Rallies bringing our “Walk” to the opponent's campus. Watch for new programs including Orange Rewards (a unique affinity program), Orange Link (an on-line pay-per-view promotion), and POSSE membership premiums. Fourth, Marketing, Communications and Branding.
How Orange are You campaign hit the market last year and remains very popular. 2007-2008 efforts include a new pre-kick off video, a re-invented web site, POSSE e-news, POSSE Magazine, improved coaches show, on-line access to priority points and giving history, gameday personalities, feedback forums and more.
Lastly, we are building the future of OSU Athletics through the Leaving a Legacy fund. By endowing scholarships in each sport, we secure our long-term future. Endowed gifts help fund the education of Oklahoma State student athletes, annually, for years to come. Major progress has been made in this $115 million campaign through loyal supporters making cash commitments and planned gifts. The Leaving a Legacy campaign, once fully funded, will support more than 400 athletes in perpetuity.
We appreciate your interest and investment in the future in Cowboy and Cowgirl athletics. None of the above goals are achievable without your efforts  thank you for being part of the "Team behind the Teams".
Grateful regards,
Craig
