Staying Connected
September 06, 2007 | General
To our loyal Alumni, Fans, Ticket Holders and POSSE Members,
One thing is clear. The Athletic department does not have a rich history of effective education and communication with you, our customer. More than 1000 survey replies to the POSSE department indicate our fans, alumni and POSSE members are not connected - - not well informed in a variety of important areas. We aim to correct this through several new communication initiatives:
- New “BLOG”
A blog (...like the one you are reading) will be posted weekly on okstate.com; one of your OSU Athletics administrators will communicate services and programs with our supporters in mind (example: best way to upgrade donor seating, new fan-friendly amenities surrounding the stadium, how to best enjoy the SpringGame...) OR communicate current events, initiatives surrounding OSU Athletic Administration (example: how to balance student and donor seating in the lower section of Gallagher-Iba Arena, what pros and cons surround the concept of playing Texas Tech in Dallas at a neutral venue, assessing dramatic changes in the annual Auction...). - New POSSE Magazine
Launching in August, 2007 and targeting six issues annually, this is the official magazine of OSU Athletics. It is a high quality, full color, perfect bound publication with features and regular columns. It will be distributed free to current and new POSSE memberships ($150.00 and above giving level per year). Stories will be fresh, timely, and give readers “inside looks” and behind the scenes stories surrounding Oklahoma State Athletics. This may include coaches features, facility updates, student-athlete academic spotlights, “where are they now” columns on former OSU champions, showcases on how our traditions were started, donor features and Stat Watch  brief bullets of records about to be broken, streaks, victories, etc. - POSSE E-News
If you are one of the 7000 POSSE members having provided us an e-mail, you have already received one or more of these communiqués. Pushed out to our alumni, fans, students and POSSE members, this “electronic newsletter” announces timely awards, delivers breaking news, explains new fan-targeted programs, recognizes Hall of Honor inductees, and delivers “what you should know” details surrounding OSU Athletic events. Watch for POSSE E-news to explain how to get Bowl tickets, directions to pre-game road rallies, homecoming schedules, how to receive free OSU Authentic merchandise, why you should attend the Basketball Bash, road to championship spotlights, etc. Student-athletes are often showcased in this piece  a great way to briefly review how your Cowboys and Cowgirls are excelling in the classroom, on the field or court and in their community. - DONOR Net
This on-line system allows OSU ticket holders and POSSE members to access their priority points, ranking, lifetime giving, annual giving, review seat choices in all sports, and more in a secure, easy-to-navigate environment. While this feature was promised to fans earlier, a necessary change/upgrade in software systems negated our targeted roll out date. Complete in August 2007, we are confident this feature will be widely used and enjoyed by many. As I write this article, 51% of OSU ticket holders renew their tickets on-line. We, along with our partner TicketMaster, are committed to deliver exceptional services to our customers globally via the internet.
Through these and other mediums, we hope to do a better job of educating, communicating and providing access to your account. Feedback is always welcome and encouraged; together, we look forward to engaging the Cowboy Nation in each of our 18 sports working toward conference and national titles.
Thank you and ... Go State!
