Cowgirl Softball Hosts Oklahoma Christian in Fall Action
September 28, 2007 | Cowgirl Softball
OSU is 2-0-1 this fall season after defeating Carl Albert (9-1 in five innings), tying Crowder College (1-1) and defeating Eastern Oklahoma (2-1) in last Sunday's Cowgirl Fall Classic.
Senior Kim Kaye led the OSU offense last weekend, going 7-for-11 with a double, triple and five runs batted in. She also scored three runs. Junior Heather Kim, a transfer from Syracuse, went 3-for-6 with two runs while junior-college transfer Breana Casaus was 2-for-4 with two walks and two stolen bases.
In the pitching circle, all three Cowgirl pitchers threw a complete game. Freshman lefthander Sarah Odom gave up just one run in eight innings, but the game resulted in a 1-1 tie due to a time limit. Freshman Amanda Crabtree struck out eight and scattered three hits in the 2-1 victory over Eastern, while sophomore Anna Whiddon picked up the win over Carl Albert.
The Cowgirls will continue their fall season on Sunday as OSU hosts the Cowgirl Fall Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. on Sept. 30. Other teams in the tournament are Rogers State, Seminole State and Neosho County Community College.
