August 03, 2007 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
With a team grade point average of 3.342, the Oklahoma State men's track and field squad posted the second-highest team GPA in the country this past year and was recognized by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as a 2007 Division I All-Academic Team.
In addition, Cowboys Daniel Watts, Joe Gray, Michael Breshears, Ryan Ripley and Ryan Vail were all individually recognized as members of the USTFCCCA Division I Men's All-Academic Track and Field team.
“We tell kids when they sign on here that first, we expect them to get their diplomas and be 3.0 students, and the second thing is to run,” Head Coach Dick Weis said. “The people that we have here are excellent students and I'm proud of the academic success that our team has had. Allen Good and the rest of the academic advisors that we have here do a great job and it shows because we are near the top of the nation with five guys who were on the All-Academic team.”
