Cowgirl Equestrian Names Elmenhorst Assistant Coach

STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State head equestrian coach Larry Sanchez has named Kayla Elmenhorst an assistant coach, he announced on Monday.
Elmenhorst was a four-year member of the OSU Equestrian team and has spent nearly two years as the program's herd supervisor.
“Kayla is a prime candidate for this position,” Sanchez said. “She brings a lot to the table in terms of what she is able to offer to the program, both in recruiting and in helping the girls.
“Having ridden for me, she knows the goals and expectations for our program. Her hire will help us be able to compete at the highest level in our sport.”
Elmenhorst joined the OSU equestrian program as a student-athlete in 2001. She was a member of the Cowgirls' 2003 and 2004 Varsity Equestrian national championship teams, as well as the 2002 IHSA Reserve national championship team.
In 2005, Elmenhorst wrapped upped her collegiate career in style. She was the Zone 7 Region 2 Open Horsemanship champion, as well as the Zone 7 Open Horsemanship champion. She also finished in the top five at IHSA Nationals.
Along with her college accomplishments, Elmenhorst also made a mark in AQHA as a five-time qualifier for the AQHA World Championship, where she competed in Trail, Horsemanship, Showmanship and Western Riding.
Elmenhorst earned her bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma State in agribusiness.
