Cowboys Travel to Lincoln for Conference Meet

Oklahoma State men's track team, led by seniors Joe Gray, Michael Breshears and Ryan Ripley, will travel to Lincoln, Neb., this week to compete in the 2007 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Cowboys are having a strong outdoor season and have qualified five runners for the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Gray and Breshears each qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational earlier in the season. Gray finished with a time of 8:44.73 and Breshears finished with a time of 8:59.61.
Sophomore Ryan Vail also qualified at the Stanford Invitational with his time of 13:52.16 in the 5,000-meter run.
At the University of Oklahoma's Sooner Invitational, Ripley, a senior, finished with a time of 3:47.03 in the 1,500-meter run to become the fourth OSU regional qualifier and sophomore Daniel Watts become the fifth to qualify with his performance at the Stanford Cardinal Invitational. Watts finished with a time of 14:00.81 in the 5,000-meter run.
At last year's Big 12 Meet, Watts highlighted the first day of competition as he was the only freshman to finish in the top 10 in the 10,000-meter run, finishing fourth with a time of 30:36.60.
On day two, then-senior Sean McCabe and junior Terry Josserand advanced to the finals in their respective events. McCabe finished second in his heat of the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:51.50 while Josserand finished with a time of 51.68 in the 400-meter hurdles to advance.
On the final day of competition, Joe Gray captured fourth-place honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 8:55.01. In the 5,000-meter run, Cowboy runners David Jankowski and Ripley each finished in the top 10. Jankowski finished with a time of 14:11.10 to garner third-place honors while Ripley finished seventh with a time of 14:31.86.
The meet will be held at Nebraska's Ed Weir Stadium with the first events slated for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and the last events coming to a close Saturday evening.
