May 06, 2007 | Cowgirl Softball
Jennifer Corkin hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh inning as Texas Tech rallied from a four-run deficit to edge Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
Chelsey Barclay came on in the seventh inning after starter Anna Whiddon allowed the leadoff hitter to reach. The Red Raiders loaded the bases off of Barclay, who took the loss to fall to 2-5, before Corkin came through with the clutch hit as the Cowgirls dropped to 25-32 on the season and 3-15 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech improved to 21-26 and 4-12 in conference action.
The Cowgirls jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning after Jenna Harmison connected on her first home run of the season, a three-run shot that went out to left centerfield.
Texas Tech answered in the fifth inning when Brandy Moulin connected for a three-run homer of her own to cut the Cowgirl lead to one. The Cowgirls could not add insurance as Tech reliever Sarah Losleban retired the final nine hitters she faced.
It gave the Red Raiders an opportunity for their second win over the Cowgirls, and they took advantage by scoring twice in the seventh inning to give Losleban the win to improve to 7-11.
OSU had its chances to add to the lead earlier in the game. The Cowgirls had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth inning, but Courtney Totte lined out to the pitcher and Krystle Sanchez grounded out to end the threat.
Katelyn Bright went 2-for-3 in the contest with a double and she scored a run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Kim Kaye. Shanel Scott also had two hits and Harmison doubled and homered.
