Oklahoma State (24-22, 2-5 Big 12) managed only four hits as Missouri (29-17, 5-0 Big 12) came up with several key hits and remained unbeaten in Big 12 play with a 6-1 victory over OSU on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium.
Missouri scored a pair of runs in the first inning when OSU starter Anna Whiddon allowed the first two hitters to reach via a base on balls and a hit batter. It proved to be enough for Jen Bruck who silenced the Cowgirl bats for the second straight day.
The Cowgirls showed signs of life in the third inning when Jenna Harmison led off the frame with a triple. She scored on a sacrifice fly by Sadie Krywicki to cut the Missouri lead in half. It was all the offense the Cowgirls could muster as they only had two hits for the remainder of the game.
Missouri extended the lead in the fourth inning with two runs. The first run scored on an RBI single by Julie Silver, and the Tigers stole the second run when Silver swiped second base and the throw by Courtney Totte sailed into the outfield allowing Bruck to come home from third.
The Tigers added a run in the fifth and a run in the seventh to put away the Cowgirls.
OSU returns to action next weekend when it travels to Waco, Texas to face the No. 11 Baylor Bear. The first game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. with the finale set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
