It was the first time in her career she was honored as the National Player of the Week, and she is the first OSU player to receive the honor. The Lawton, Okla. native also earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the second time this year.
Totte went 6-for-8 for the week with two home runs and nine RBIs as she set the single season school record in RBIs. Totte set the RBI mark to open the week against Wichita State as she went 1-for-1 with an RBI double.
She then added to her total in a double header against Iowa State as she went 5-for-7 with eight RBIs in the two games. Totte was 4-for-4 in the first game with a two-run homer and a grand slam to tie the the single game record at OSU with six RBIs. It marked the second time this season she has had as many as six RBIs in a game. She then went 1-for-3 in the second game with two RBIs.
"I was in shock for a minute,” Totte said. “I know I had a good weekend, but to be considered National Player of the Week is a big honor. There are a lot of good players in the power conferences so this is certainly an honor and something I am very proud of."
Totte is having one of the best seasons in the history of the OSU softball program as she is hitting .439 with 11 home runs, 15 doubles and 60 RBIs.
"Courtney has done a great job with runners in scoring position all year long. She has put together some quality at bats and gotten some big hits for us,” said head coach Rich Wieligman. “This is a great honor for Courtney, and it also helps bring our program national recognition."
