Cowgirl Equestrian Signs Talented 2007 Class

Oklahoma State's equestrian program announced the signing of five talented riders to national Letters of Intent Thursday.
“We could not be more excited about the signees for the fall of 2007,” head coach Larry Sanchez said. “We really feel they are going to bring a lot to the table and help us in our pursuit of another national title.”
Joining the Cowgirls in the fall will be Nichole Chirico, Anna Meyer, Brianna Parnell, Hannah Beresford and Margaux Tucker.
Chirico, who hails from Naperville, Ill., will bring her extensive talent to the squad in horsemanship. Currently, Chirico is leading the nation in the AQHA Youth Showmanship and is fifth in the nation for the Youth All Around. In 2006, she was the AQHA Congress Champion in NYATT Showmanship and also placed in the top 10 at Congress for 15-18 Showmanship, Trail and Equitation. Chirico holds Superior honors with the AQHA in Showmanship, Horsemanship, Equitation and Western Pleasure.
Meyer, who attended Bixby High School, is a transfer student from Tulsa Community College. She brings years of experience and talent to the Cowgirls in reining. During her eight years of riding, she has competed in several of the top shows in the United States.
Parnell attended Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Wash., were she was the captain of the equestrian team in both 2006 and 2007. She was also named the teams' MVP for 2006. In 2007, Parnell qualified for the AQHYA Youth World Show in both reining and cutting. Also in 2007, she won the AQHA Circuit Award in Reining at the Mid-Columbia Desert Classic in Pasco, Wash. In 2006, Parnell was the Reining Hi-Point Youth in the Northwest Congress of Spokane, Wash.
Beresford comes to Stillwater by way of Voorheesville, N.Y. She will bring depth, experience and talent to the hunt seat side of the equestrian team. In 2005, Beresford was the NAL Children's Jumper Classic in Saratoga. At the same show she won the open 3'6” Jumper Final. Beresford also attended the NAL Children's Jumper Finals and the Marshall and Sterling Finals in both 2004 and 2005. During 2006, Hannah qualified for the Maclay Regionals, the Medal Finals and the New England Equitation Finals. Beresford also has international experience having ridden in Puerto Rico and India for the United States in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, Hannah was the Reserve Champion in Children's Jumpers while in Puerto Rico and in 2006 her team won the silver medal for Junior Jumpers. She won the bronze medal individually.
Tucker, a South Bend, Ind. native, brings a wealth of accomplishments and show experience to the team in horsemanship. At the Youth-East Coast Championship, Tucker was the Reserve All Around Champion. She was also the Dixie Nationals Circuit Champion in Open Senior Trail, the 14-18 Horsemanship Reserve Circuit Champion and the Reserve Champion in 14-18 Showmanship and Youth Halter. In 2006, Tucker was the AQHYA High Point Champion in Equitation. Also in 2006, Tucker placed fifth in the AQHYA in High Point All Around for the Youth, sixth place in High Point Trail, seventh in High point Showmanship and ninth in trail at the AQHYA World Championship. Tucker continued her streak in 2006 earning Superior Honors for equitation, horsemanship, trail and showmanship. Adding to her list of accomplishments, Tucker received the Youth Performance Champion and Youth All Around Champion.
