In the 1,500-meter run invitational section, Cowboy senior Ryan Ripley finished 8th with a time of 3:47.07, falling two-tenths of a second short of an NCAA Regional qualifying time. Sophomore Ryan Vail, who has already qualified in the 5,000-meter run, fell just short as well, finishing 14th with a time of 3:49.44. Redshirt freshman Peter Doroshuk and sophomore Matt Barnes-Smith also ran in the 1,500-meter run, finished 21st and 24th, respectively.
In the university section of the 1,500-meter run, Cowboy freshman Sean Fleming, running unattached, finished first with a time of 3:55.89 to lead the Pokes. Junior Brian Ehlis finished fourth with a time of 3:57.36, sophomore Alejandro Ruiz finished 10th with a time of 4:00.33 and senior Michael Breshears finished 14th with a time of 4:03.29.
In the 800-meter run, Cowboy freshman Jerhoemee Murray finished ninth with a time of 1:56.49 and senior David Foster finished 18th with a time of 2:10.67.
“We ran pretty well today,” said Cowboy assistant track coach Dave Smith. “We had some guys come out and fall just short of qualifying for Regionals. Tucker Weems ran a great race and Josserand also had a great day, running unattached.”
