Big Inning Dooms Cowgirls at No. 9 Baylor

No. 9 Baylor used a nine-run third inning to and run ruled Oklahoma State (24-24, 2-7 Big 12), 11-3, in the final game of a two game series at Getterman Stadium in Waco, Texas.
The Cowgirl pitching staff had stranded numerous Baylor (39-9, 9-0 Big 12) base runners in the two games, but it finally caught up to OSU starter Anna Whiddon. The Lady Bears loaded the bases with no outs and took full advantage of the opportunity.
Baylor sent 13 hitters to the plate in the third inning with seven of them reaching on a base hit. Miriam Romero and Brette Reagan both hit two-run singles in the inning. Ashley Monceaux greeted reliever Jessica Hoppock with a two-run homer to cap the scoring.
Shanel Scott recorded another milestone stealing her 100th career base in the first inning. She came around to score on an RBI single by Courtney Totte. Kim Kaye added another run as she dumped a single into right centerfield to score Totte and staked OSU to an early two run lead.
Baylor cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Monceaux. The Lady Bears tied it in the second on an RBI single by Alex Colyer. They loaded the bases with one out, but could only scratch across one run against Whiddon.
Totte added a second RBI single in the top of the fifth inning and finished the game going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Scott led off the winning with a walk, her 36th of the season tying the single season mark at OSU.
OSU returns to action on Wednesday with a double header against fifth-ranked Texas A&M in
