Cowgirls Sweep Double Header from Iowa State

Oklahoma State's softball team slugged its way past Iowa State in a double header as OSU (23-19, 2-2 Big 12) won both games by run rule defeating ISU (19-26, 0-4 Big 12), 14-0 and 10-1, at the Southwest Athletic Complex in Ames, Iowa.
The Cowgirls used three big innings to bury the Cyclones in the first game. OSU scored four runs in its first at bat and never looked back as it closed out the game with three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Courtney Totte helped lead the power attack going 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBIs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning. It was the second time this season Totte has had six RBIs in a game, tying the single game record at OSU.
Krystle Sanchez went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs. Kim Kaye had a two-run triple and Shianne Cruce went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Eight of the Cowgirls' 14 hits went for extra bases. Jessica Hoppock (11-10) was the beneficiary of the power surge as she shut down the Cyclone offense. Hoppock allowed just three hits and struck out 10.
The Cowgirls jumped out quickly in the second game scoring two runs in both the first and second innings.
The Cowgirls broke open the game with four runs in the third inning. All four runs scored on the same play when Sadie Krywicki cleared them with a double and then scored herself on a throwing error by the catcher to put OSU ahead 8-0.
The Cowgirls added a run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Jenna Harmison, and a run in the fifth on an RBI single by Totte. It was Totte's eighth RBI of the day.
Anna Whiddon allowed just one run on three hits to earn the victory and improve to 10-5 on the season.
