Cowgirl Golfers Finish Sixth at PING/ASU Invitational
April 01, 2007 | Cowgirl Golf
Lindberg's 209 is the third-best round in Cowgirl golf history, bested only by a pair of tournaments by Karin Sjödin, the school's all-time career stroke leader. Sjödin shot at the 2004 NCAA Fall Preview and a 208 at the 2002 TOPY Cup. The third-place finish is also Lindberg's fourth top-three finish in the last five tournaments.
As a team, OSU finished with a three-day total of 888, tied with eighth-ranked Arizona and No. 10 Stanford for sixth place. Arizona State, the No. 2 team in the country and the host of the tournament, won the team title with an 13-under-par 851. UCLA finished second with an 873, while Texas A&M (874), Vanderbilt (875) and Pepperdine (877) rounded out the top-five teams.
Cowgirl sophomore Amanda Johnson shot the second-best round of the day by a Cowgirl during Sunday's final round with a 74 and finished tied for 51st place. Senior Mallorie Underwood and sophomore Karin Kinnerud each recorded 76s and finished in 39th and 46th place, respectively. Freshman Sarah Bradley tied for 61st place.
The Cowgirls will take two weeks off before returning to action on April 17, as OSU travels to Waco, Texas, to compete in the Big 12 Championships, April 17-19, at the Ridgewood Country Club.
