Totte Sets Mark, Cowgirls Defeat Wichita State, 4-0

STILLWATER, Okla. Â– Shanel Scott scored on a passed ball in the first inning and that was all the run support Anna Whiddon would need as Oklahoma State (21-19) defeated Wichita State (16-22), 4-0, on Tuesday evening at Cowgirl Stadium.

Senior Courtney Totte put her name on the Cowgirl record books when she doubled home an insurance run in the fifth inning for her 52^nd RBI this season, a new OSU single season record. Former Cowgirl All-American Jamie Foutch twice had 51 RBIs in a season.

Whiddon had her best outing as a Cowgirl as she threw a complete game shutout, the first of her career. The freshman from Huntington, Texas allowed just three hits over seven innings to improve to 9-5 on the season.

Emily Blackburn added a sacrifice fly following Totte's double in the fifth, and Shianne Cruce scored the final run on a passed ball in the sixth inning.

The Shockers only real scoring opportunity came in the second inning when Lindsie Mitts doubled and Kara L'Huillier tried to score from first base, but shortstop Krystle Sanchez relayed the throw from Shanel Scott and cut L'Huillier down at the plate.

Whiddon only allowed two singles after the second inning and retired 15 of the final 17 hitters she faced.

OSU returns to action on Thursday night with the annual Border Wars when Arkansas and Tulsa visit Cowgirl Stadium. UA and TU play each other at 3 p.m., with the Cowgirls scheduled to play both teams beginning with Tulsa at 5 p.m. The OSU games can be heard live on KGFY 105.5 FM with Bill Van Ness calling the action.
