Cowgirls Cruise Past Tulsa, 13-4

The Cowgirls used several big innings offensively, as well as a solid performance from freshmen pitcher Anna Whiddon to push their season record to 20-17. For the Golden Hurricane (16-16), it was their sixth consecutive loss.
The Cowgirls answered with five runs in the top of the second inning. OSU had five hits in the inning with four of them going for extra bases. Shianne Cruce hit a two-run double, and Shanel Scott plated a run with a two-out double followed by an RBI triple from Katelyn Bright.
The Golden Hurricane closed to within a run when second baseman Sadie Krywicki misjudged a pop up with two outs that allowed two runs to score.
The Cowgirls put the game away in the fourth inning with their second five-run inning of the game. Emily Blackburn capped the inning with a three-run homer, which put OSU ahead 10-4.
Katelyn Bright added an insurance run in the fifth inning with her second RBI of the game. Shianne Cruce hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to give OSU a run rule victory, as Whiddon completed the game in the bottom of the inning.
Courtney Totte was the only Cowgirl who failed to get a hit as she had her hitting streak snapped at 11.
Oklahoma State opens up Big 12 play this weekend when Kansas visits Cowgirl Stadium for a two game set beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. The game can be heard live on KSPI 780 AM with Bill Van Ness providing the commentary.
