Cowgirls Win Final Home Competition

In the final home competition of the season, the Cowgirls boasted an impressive 12-4 win over Fresno State University. The Cowgirls rode smart and hard to capture the win and in each of the four classes, the Cowgirls won three of the four points.
Being the final home competition, the seniors were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the team. Representing the senior class and the only MVP rider for this competition was Caitlyn Roberts. Roberts received the award for equitation over fences. Her high score of the day, an 80, beat out the Bulldog's Katie Nenneker by 15 points. Also putting points on the scoreboard for the Cowgirls in equitation over fences were Devon Smithburg and Jaclyn Osterstock.
In equitation on the flat, capturing the three points were Michelle Woolschlager, Sam Collingsworth, and Bailey Mahoney. Woolschlager and Mahoney both out scored their opponents by 11 points. Collingsworth inched out a two-point lead over her opponent, Kirsten Sohns.
The seniors showed strong today in the reining section. Both Rachel Currat and Katie Bohr earned points for the Cowgirls. Currat out scored the Bulldog's Heidi Smith by an impressive 6 points. Bohr secured her win by a one-point lead. Earning the final point in the reining section was Jacque Roberts. Roberts, a sophomore, beat out her opponent by two points.
Bringing in the remaining points for the Cowgirls were, Samantha Davidson, Ashley Koch and Jordan Pickelman. Davidson walked away with a 73.5 score on her pattern, one point higher than her opponent, Sara Barnes. Earning a score of a 75.5, the Cowgirls highest score in horsemanship for the day went, went to Koch, a freshman. Pickelman squeaked out a .5 lead over the Bulldog's Heidi Smith.
The Cowgirls left the weekend increasing their record to a 7-5. They return to action March 31- April 1 at Texas A&M University for the Big 12 Invitational.
