Cowgirls Shocked by Wichita State, 4-1

Wichita State scored two runs in the third inning, which proved to be enough as Oklahoma State managed just two hits and the Shockers defeated OSU, 4-1, at Wilkins Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

The Cowgirls loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, but Katelyn Bright popped up and left OSU's RBI leader, Courtney Totte, in the on deck circle.

Wichita State improved to 12-17 on the season, while OSU dropped to 15-16 on the year.

Lisa Jones staked Wichita State to a lead with a solo home run in the third inning. The Shockers added a run in the frame on a sacrifice fly by Britnee Barnett.

The Shockers put more pressure on the Cowgirls with two more runs in the fifth inning. Cynthia Verhulst had an RBI single and Erin Peters plated a run on a groundout to put WSU up 4-0.

The Cowgirls scored their lone run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Kim Kaye. It was all they could manage as OSU failed to come up with the clutch hits.

Totte singled in the first inning to extend her team high hitting streak to six games. Shanel Scott also hit safely in six games earlier this season. It was OSU's only hit until Shianne Cruce singled in the seventh inning.

Jessica Hoppock started the game and went the distance for her 83^rd career complete game, just two shy of the school record held by Lauren Bay, but she suffered the loss to fall to 9-9 on the season. Morgan Pruis earned the win for Wichita State and improved to 6-7 on the year.

OSU returns home to host San Diego in a three-game series at Cowgirl Stadium. The Series will begin Friday evening at 7 p.m., followed by a double header on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
