Oklahoma State Softball Travels to Worth Invitational

Oklahoma State's softball team will continue action this weekend when they head to the Worth Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. OSU opens with Cal Poly at 11 a.m., Friday. The Mustangs are 10-4 on the season and defeated the Cowgirls, 5-3, in the Louisville Slugger Desert Classic on Feb. 16. The Cowgirls will follow up with No. 13 Oregon State at 3:30 p.m. The Beavers are 8-5 on the year and ranked No. 11 in the country. OSU is coming off of an appearance in the Women's College World Series last season. On Saturday, OSU will take on Minnesota at 11 a.m., followed by tournament host Cal State-Fullerton at 5:45 p.m. The Titans are 9-7 for the season with a win over Northwestern. The Cowgirls conclude play at the Worth Invitational against another 2006 WCWS team when they play eighth-ranked Northwestern. The Wildcats handed second-ranked Arizona State its first loss of the season last weekend and are currently 10-5 on the season. All the action can be followed live via the web at www.okstate.com.
What to Watch For
With her run in the first inning against Michigan State, Shanel Scott passed Jamie Foutch for the school record in runs scored. Courtney Totte knocked in her 100th career run against Long Island and is just eight runs shy of becoming the third player in OSU history with 100 runs scored. She will join Foutch as the only other player with 100 RBIs and 100 runs scored. Jessica Hoppock tied Lauren Bay for the school record in appearances with a start against Missouri State.
Scott Runs Into the Record Books
With her first inning run against Michigan State, Shanel Scott set the school's all-time record in runs scored. Scott scored again in the second inning and now holds the record with 124 runs scored. She has obliterated the career stolen bases mark, which she set in the fifth game of the season last year. Scott currently has 70 career steals.
Totte Reaches the Century Mark
Courtney Totte reached the century mark in RBIs when she hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning against Long Island on Feb. 23. Totte went, 2-for-4 in the game with four RBIs. She is the second player to top 100 RBIs for a career, joining Jamie Foutch who holds the record with 163. . Totte is Perfect Against No. 16 California
Courtney Totte went 4-for-4 against No. 16 California on Feb. 23. She gave the Cowgirls the early lead with a two-run home run in the first inning. She followed it up with a pair of singles and a two-out double in the seventh inning. Totte had four of OSU's eight hits in the contest.
Scott Records Hit No. 200
Senior Shanel Scott laid down a bunt and beat the throw in the second inning of the home opener against North Texas on Feb. 20, for her 200th career hit in a Cowgirl uniform. She became only the second player with 200 hits joining former Cowgirl Jaimie Foutch who holds the record with 278.
Cowgirls Put it Together
Oklahoma State showed what it was capable of against UCLA on Feb. 17. The Cowgirls did not commit an error on defense and allowed just one double, while OSU hit four doubles and two home runs. The result was an 8-1 victory over the ninth-ranked Bruins. The eight runs scored were a season high and seven hits were the third highest total this season. It also marked the first time this season that OSU failed to commit an error.
