Quick Notes
• Oklahoma State has surpassed its season win total from a year ago. Last year, the Cowboys finished 17-16.
• The Cowboys are 0-2 on the road this season, both games in Big 12 Conference play. OSU is 1-1 against the Big 12’s North Division.
• OSU has now won at least 17 games for the 19th-consecutive season and is guaranteed a winning record for the 19th-straight year.
• Oklahoma State is on the road for back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Cowboys were supposed to play at Nebraska following the Kansas game, but it was rescheduled.
• Oklahoma State’s game against Texas Tech on Saturday, Feb. 10, is scheduled for 3 p.m., not 11 a.m. as listed on the season tickets.
Cowboys Wear Down Cyclones
• Oklahoma State scored just 17 points before halftime yet outscored Iowa State 45-27 in the second period and defeated the Cyclones 62-50 last Saturday night in Stillwater.
• Terrel Harris matched his career high with 21 points, including 11 of OSU’s 17 before intermission.
• Mario Boggan scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds while JamesOn Curry added 14 points for the Pokes.
• After shooting a dismal 29 percent in the first half, the Cowboys came out on fire in the second, connecting on 16-of-27 shots, good for 59.3 percent.
• OSU also had a season-low nine turnovers in the contest, including just two in the second half.
• Oklahoma State limited the Cyclones to just 32.2 percent shooting in the game and just 4-of-16 from beyond the three-point arc.
OSU Among Nation’s Best
• As of Thursday, Oklahoma State is one of just 24 teams with 18 or more wins.
• There are just 14 teams nationally that have three or fewer losses at this point in the season.
• Three of those teams are in the Big 12 Conference — Oklahoma State (18-3), Kansas (19-3) and Texas A&M (18-3).
• Oklahoma State’s 18-3 mark, an 85.7 winning percentage, is tied for the 12th-best mark in the country.
• Two teams are tied with a 21-2 record while two more are tied at 20-2.
• Three teams are tied at 19-2 while Pittsburgh is 20-3. Three more teams are tied at 19-3.
Start Among Best in School History
• This year’s Cowboy squad is 18-3 through the first 21 games of the season. Only 15 times in school history has an OSU team had a record of 18-3 or better through the first 21 games.
• This is the fourth time in the last five seasons (excluding last year) that OSU has started 18-3 or better.
• Oklahoma State has never gone 21-0 to start a season, but has started the year 20-1 four times.
• Only once in school history (1953-54) has a team that started with an 18-3 or better record through 21 games lose its 22nd game of the season.
OSU in the RPI
• As of Thursday, Oklahoma State ranked No. 11 in the ratings percentage index according to rpiratings.com.
• The Cowboys have a national schedule-strength ranking of No. 37.
• That is second in the Big 12 only to Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have a No. 9 schedule-strength ranking.
• OSU is 7-3 vs. teams ranked in the top 100, including wins over No. 3 Pittsburgh, No. 37 Missouri State, No. 43 Texas and No. 58 Syracuse.
• All three OSU losses this season have come to teams ranked in the top 25 in the RPI (No. 14 Kansas , No. 15 Tennessee and No. 23 Texas A&M).
Against the Buffaloes
• Oklahoma State has won 17 of the last 23 meetings with Colorado on the hardwood since the Sutton’s came to Stillwater.
• Junior JamesOn Curry broke onto the collegiate scene in Boulder two years ago. In his first collegiate start, he scored 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor, including 6-of-8 from beyond the three-point arc. Curry also had six assists, two steals and no turnovers in 24 minutes of play.
• Colorado’s win in Stillwater last season was the first for the Buffaloes since 1980.
• Curry and Mario Boggan each scored 16 points in the loss.
• Richard Roby had a game-high 27 points for Colorado and the Buffaloes were 12-of-29 from long range.
• Cowboy freshman Obi Muonelo was born between games the last time the Cowboys lost back-to-back contests against the Buffaloes. CU defeated OSU 73-71 on Feb. 13, 1988, in Boulder. Muonelo was born four months later on June 21. The Cowboys fell again in Boulder on Feb. 1, 1989, by a 102-86 score.
