Cowgirls Defeat Long Island, 6-4

Courtney Totte hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning and drove in the 100th run of her career as Oklahoma State (7-5) defeated Long Island (2-4), 6-4, at the Palm Springs Classic in Cathedral City, Calif.
Totte went-2-for-4 in the game, and she finished with a season high four RBIs. She ranks second all-time at OSU with 102 career ribbies.
Jessica Hoppock went the distance in the circle and improved to 7-2 on the season. Hoppock struck out six as she picked up her 700th career strikeout in the third inning. She had to work out of trouble as she walked six and had the bases loaded in both the fifth and seventh innings.
OSU grabbed the lead in the third inning without the courtesy of hit. Shanel Scott drew a walk and scored from second on an error by the second baseman.
LIU took the lead in the bottom half of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Renae Beauchman, but Emily Blackburn tied it at two for the Cowgirls with a solo home run in the fourth.
The Cowgirls took the lead for good in the fifth on the first of Totte's four RBIs. She singled to score Scott from second base. The Cowgirls plated three big insurance runs in the seventh inning on Totte's home run.
The Blackbirds posted a rally in the seventh as they loaded the bases on three straight singles. Hoppock walked Jessie DePippo to score a run, and Chelsea Martinson hit a sacrifice fly to make it 6-4. Hoppock then got Brittany Murphy to pop up to her to end the game.
