UCLA (5-4) out hit OSU (5-4), 8-7, but the Cowgirls had four doubles and two home runs. OSU jumped out to a 3-0 lead courtesy of two Bruin errors, and then got insurance in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Courtney Totte and in the sixth inning on a two-run homer by Lauren Kitchens. Kitchens snapped a 1-for-21 skid with a home run and a double.
Jessica Hoppock came on in relief and allowed a run on three hits to earn the victory. Hoppock relieved starter Chelsey Barclay to get out of a bases loaded jam in the third inning.
Shanel Scott reached on an error to lead off the third inning and came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Courtney Totte. It was OSU's third unearned run of the game.
UCLA threatened in the third inning by loading the bases with two outs off of Chelsey Barclay. Jessica Hoppock came on in relief and got Whitney Holum to ground into a force out to end the threat.
The Bruins scored in the bottom of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Krista Colburn. UCLA got the tying run to second base but Hoppock got Megan Langenfield to hit it back to her to get out of another jam.
OSU got much needed insurance with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by a Totte two-run homer. Lauren Kitchens led off with a double and scored on a single by Katelyn Bright. Totte followed with a lined shot that cleared the right field fence. Kitchens came up again in the sixth and came through with a two-run homer.
