Scott and Kaye Lead Cowgirls Past Texas State, 4-3

Scott has reached base in nine consecutive plate appearances to start the season, before the streak was snapped in the sixth inning. She singled in the first inning and scored on a single by Kim Kaye. She tripled in the second inning to score Sadie Krywicki, and she singled in the fourth and scored on a Katelyn Bright single.
Kaye went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI and she scored a run. Bright and Courtney Totte also had RBIs for the Cowgirls
The Cowgirls were leading 4-1 in the fifth inning when the Bobcats started to rally. Alex Newton had an RBI single and Ali McCormack drove in a run to cut the Cowgirl lead to one. The Bobcats had the bases loaded with two outs, but Jessica Hoppock struck out Leah Boatright to end the threat.
Hoppock settled down to get the final six outs and record the victory. She threw her second straight complete game as she improved to 2-0 on the season. She moved past legend Michele Smith for second all-time with 76 complete games.
The Cowgirls lock up the No. 2 seed and advanced to bracket play where they will face Texas-San Antonio at 5:30 p.m. OSU defeated UTSA, 5-3, in the opener yesterday.
