Cowgirl Equestrian Hosts Big 12 Foe Texas A&M

Oklahoma State's Equestrian team (3-0) will host the undefeated Aggies of Texas A&M (5-0) on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Animal Science Arena. The show will consist of two parts: the English portion of the show will be held inside, while the Western teams will compete at the outdoor arena.
The Cowgirls are coming off their biggest win of the season, a 16-3 win over the University of South Carolina. The defending national champion Gamecocks were dismantled by the Cowgirl attack. Although last weeks win was big, the Cowgirls are greatly anticipating this weekends show. Texas A&M is considered OSU's biggest equestrian rival, and after losing two out of three last year to the Aggies the Cowgirls are looking to get some revenge.
The format will stay consistent with the Varsity rules that we have seen all season. There will be a series of head-to-head competitions between both English and Western teams. The team with the most victories out of the match-ups will win the show. Also, the high point rider in each discipline will earn the MVP for that portion of the competition.
The Cowgirls will have seven representatives in each of the four disciplines: horsemanship, reining, equitation on the flat, and equitation over fences.
Representing the Cowgirls in horsemanship are seniors Sam Davidson and Leeanna McNally, junior Jordan Pickelman, sophomores Ashley Koch, Suzanne Randolph, and Kilee Stewart, and freshmen Margaux Tucker, Courtney Whiteacre, and Lauren Olson. The western team has been very successful in the horsemanship discipline this season. Davidson and Randolph have both held undefeated records on the year, while Randolph and Pickelman have earned MVPs this season.
Representing the Cowgirls in the reining discipline are seniors Rachel Currat and Leeanna McNally, junior Jacque Roberts, sophomores Leah Kuehn, Rachell Shobe, and Molly Tipton, and freshman Brianna Parnell. After three shows this year the Cowgirls have three girls still undefeated in the reining category: Roberts, Kuehn, and Shobe. Out of the three shows this season Shobe owns two of the MVPs while Kuehn holds the other.
Showing for the Cowgirls in equitation over fences are seniors Natalie Chappell and Bailey Mahoney, juniors Jaclyn Osterstock and Devon Smithburg, sophomore Ally Blais, and freshmen Hannah Beresford and Erin Prutow. The Cowgirls held a 4-1 record in equitation over fences last weekend to knock off USC.
Competing in equitation on the flat for the Cowgirls are seniors Bailey Mahoney, Michelle Woolschlager, and Brittany Myers, juniors Charlotte Collingsworth, Sam Collingsworth, and Sarah Summers, sophomores Ally Blais and Jen McLaughlin, and freshman Jessie Brothers. While all of the girls have contributed greatly to this discipline, Mahoney holds two MVPs this season for equitation on the flat.
