Cowgirl Equestrian Wins First Road Show

OSU has been showing well all season, beating defending national champion University of South Carolina and Texas A&M in the last two weekends. The Cowgirls talent overtook the Ladyjacks in all four disciplines.
“I was really proud of the way the girls rode today,” said Head Coach Larry Sanchez. “The girls handled any challenges that they had in the way I would want them to. We look forward to competing again tomorrow against Baylor.”
The Cowgirls won the hunt seat competitions 5-3. For equitation over fences the Cowgirls captured a 3-1 victory on the Ladyjacks. Freshman Hannah Beresford captured the MVP for this discipline. Along with Beresford, junior Jaclyn Osterstock and sophomore Ally Blais also came away with victories on the day. Beresford and Osterstock both scored in the upper 70's.
To round off the hunt seat victory, OSU tied the equitation on the flat discipline. Winning their head-to-head battles for the Cowgirls were senior Bailey Mahoney and junior Sarah Summers. Summers lead the team with a 66 in the category.
The Cowgirls dominated the western side of the competition by a margin of 6-1. In Horsemanship seniors Sam Davidson and LeeAnna McNally both captured victories. McNally's 77.5 was a high score for the western team and earned her the MVP for horsemanship.
The Cowgirls swept the reining discipline 4-0 giving senior Rachel Currat, junior Jacque Roberts, and sophomores Leah Kuehn and Rachell Shobe all victories. Roberts captured the MVP with a stellar 71 on the day.
The Cowgirls will compete tomorrow in Waco, Texas against Baylor at 1:00 p.m.
