Cowgirl Golf Adds Three Players During Fall Signing Period

Oklahoma State's women's golf team has signed three players it was announced today by head coach Laura Matthews. Caroline Hedwall and Caroline Masson will both join the program next fall, while Jaclyn Sweeney is set to begin her collegiate career at the start of the spring semester.
“I feel very fortunate to get both Carolines here at Oklahoma State,” Matthews said. “They are highly ranked players, not just in junior golf but also in amateur golf throughout the world. These are the type of players that will continue to raise the bar and expectations for women's golf here at OSU. We are looking forward to their arrival in Stillwater.”
“I am very excited to add Jaclyn in January. Her addition will provide instant strength and increased competition on our roster,” Matthews added.
Hedwall was named a member of the European Junior Solheim Cup squad this past September. She is also the 2007 European Amateur Champion and placed first in seven Swedish professional events during the year. One of the top ranked players in Europe, she played in a collegiate event this fall, finishing third at the Mercedes-Benz Championship while competing as a member of the Swedish Junior National Team.
In addition, the Loddekopinge, Sweden native was named a recipient of the Annika Sorenstam Golf Award in 2006.
A native of Gladbeck, Germany, Masson has twice been selected as a member of the European Junior Solheim Cup squad, competing in the event in 2005 and 2007. Masson, who is also ranked among the top players in Europe, has a pair of impressive top-five showings to her credit, finishing second at the European Nations Championship and finishing third at the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship.
Sweeney earned honorable mention All-America honors this past season after posting four top-10 finishes. A native of Andover, Mass., Sweeney now resides in Bradenton, Fla., where she attends the David Leadbetter Golf Academy. Her best showing was a tie for fifth place at the 2007 Ping Junior at the Woodlands. She also tied for ninth at the Verizon Junior Heritage, tied for sixth at the Scott Robertson and tied for ninth at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship.
Sweeney is currently ranked No. 17 in the Golfweek/Titleist junior rankings.
